Italy's Sebi Orsi enters the La Bridja curve perfectly and, glancing back is amazed to see the Spanish driver weave through traffic to come up alongside. But Orsi's attention is suddenly taken by a further problem with both his front tires, which are now losing pieces fast as bits of black rubber start to spew off vertically. Can he even finish? Behind, the pack follows closely into the approaches to the curve, with Switzerland darting forward to take several positions as Sweden throttles back to ensure good positioning going into the curve. Finland, Switzerland, Sweden and Norway are now set up to take on La Bridja and it is a toss-up to think who might win.
