Britain's John Milk continues to press ahead in a perfect breakaway, now coming through Sinistere and into the straight leading to La Trappe -- without question, he is in the lead, though his driving style has pressed his tires and gearbox to the limit. France and Germany continue in a head-to-head race, with France taking the lead, skidding out of the curve but ending up in a terrible collision with Germany! The French car slams into the hay bales at the edge of the track and is out of the race! What a terrible break for France's finest driver, Aristide La Fontaine!!
To the inside, Finland makes a daring move -- at first thinking to opt for the outside lane, but seeing his way blocked by Italy and Norway, the ice racer presses ahead to rejoins the midst of the pack in the tight confines of El Wahid. Monaco and Czechoslovakia continue in a tight race, while behind a mass of cars jams up into the chicane. Sebi Orsi and the Norwegian, Megane Omalie bring up the rear, but Orsi is perfectly positioned for El Wahid, driving a smooth line into the corner, while Omalie is now facing a difficult proposition in the upcoming curve.
