Race :: Round 18 - Monaco Extends the Lead

Monaco pulls away in a clean breakaway, while Britain continues to make up lost ground and passes a surprised Czechoslovakia, nosing ahead into 2nd place. Italy's Sebi Orsi continues to hound the lead pack from 4th place, but unless one of the leaders makes a serious mistake at La Bridja, he probably will not be able to close the gap before the checkered flag. Behind, Germany slams it into second gear in hopes of avoiding a last place finish, while Finland blazes past, taking 5th place. Spain, Switzerland, and Sweden also flash by Hegkman, with the Swedish Shark waving. Next into of the La Trappe curve are Norway and Belgium, both hammering over the flattened carcass of the goat and going too fast. Seemingly, they are trying to outrun each other and while Norway holds on and passes, Belgium's Victor Hugo Stéphane can only barely control his car despite downshifting. In a cloud of tire smoke and gearbox oil, like Germany, he nearly spins out, but somehow keeps on the track. Now with this, it looks like Hegkman cannot avoid last place in the race unless the yellow Bugatti somehow makes a mistake at the last curve up ahead.
